Well bowseason season started July 10, and I shot the one in velvet July 11th, I am getting him mounted. The pic isnt the greatest so I apologize in advance. The smaller buck I shot this weekend @44 yds. He has a crazy curvy little rack. Talk about luck, my last year to hunt California before I end my active duty in the USMC and head back to PA Aug, 9th just in time to hunt PA again. Can hardly wait. The smaller buck I put an awful shot on him. Watched him walk away and bed down about 300 yds away. Came back 4 hours later and figured I would stalk him where I last seen him, and maybe get another shot off but he was already expired. Just goes to show if you put a bad shot on a deer, wait wait wait.

Nice looking deer, espically the first one. With an august 9th discharge you should be home with plenty of time to scout.
Where these deer stalked or shot from a tree? I've never been to CA but I bet you'd stick out like a sore thumb if you were up one of the palm trees I see in the background.

Both deer were shot at 44 yds. It was a stalk all the way. There is really no place for treestand hunting in CA. I always thought I would never miss CA, but I guess I will a little bit. But still cant wait to hang some stand in PA this Fall. I will be going to college and will have all the time to hunt this fall. I guess the pressure will already be off my shoulders now that I have 2 bucks under my belt this year. PA here I come
