I don't understand, is he saying no bow for eight month? Or no hunting for eight months. If the problem is with drawing the bow, then by all means, use the crossbow. If the problem is actually hunting, then you may want to go by his wishes and stay out of the woods.

"Is it wrong if you have no other choice?"

HECK NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If it's legal and keeps you involved with something you truly love... do it! Your health is far more important than what some may think. If your doc says, "Go for it." Then... by all means... Use the crossgun!

Your friends will always respect you no matter what you use. If they don't... they never were your friends to begin with... especially when health issues are involved.

Bottom line: You shouldn't have to ask your friends for their support.... or ask a total stranger to make an important decision for you either. You make the decision... and I will support you either way.

ps-Like you... I have always been against the use of crossguns. However, I may wake up tomorrow and have a stroke [or whatever]. Guaranteed... you will see me with a crossgun in my good hand[and I won't give a 'shirt' what anyone thinks].

Yeah, if your doc is saying no hunting, you should comply. Lots of factors besides what you hunt with go into making a heart attack. Bad diet, lack of any real exercise and so on. Take care of yourself first then worry about all the little stuff.

Sounds like you need to talk more with the doctor and get it clear as to what you can do .

If it is legal and you have no other choice do it! That is why they allow crossbow in most states, is for health reasons.

Do anything that enables you to climb up in that tree and hear "TWACK". Your next problem is not having another heart attack dragging the critter out. Find a friend.

If a crossbow is your only choice then by all means use it. I see nothing wrong with it to begin with & I sure don't see anything wrong with it because of your medical condition. Use it & continue hunting! Good Luck
