What and idiot even with a round backstop the kid would have been infront of the shooter. I thought rule one when shooting when others are buy is making sure they're behind you...Duh!

Responsible people don't need bad press from idiots like that.
I hope the kid recovers completely and lesson have been learned.

I shoot an eternity target in my back yard in my neighborhood, and thank god have had no problem. However I use my 8' wood fence as a back stop. I shot a section of fence first to see what would happen if I missed, and the arrow just stuck. At 10 yards it sticks 1/2 of the way through, 20 yards less, and 30 yards even less. The key here is choice in back stop, not choice in venue. I am certain the guy is not a complete dumba$$ it was just an unfortunate mistake in judgement. We all make poor choices at one time or another it is just a matter of when and where. Like it has been said the true measure of a man is shown by what he does when no one is looking. what did you do last night.

I think punishment for the guy who shot his kid should be.
Bend over drop your droors and be shot in the bear butt with a bludgeon from my mathews bow at 10 yards. That would sting a bit.
