Default Another STEALTH CAM Update!!!! Read this....

Well guys,

I must say that Stealth Cam is standing behind their products 100%. Since I posted, I have recieved 3 e-mails about taking care of my problem with my DIGRC-XTR. I just replied today to let them know that I am going to give the unit one more week to try out! I have noticed that I am starting to get more pics. Actually, I got a picture of a chipmunk, yes, a chipmunk, but yet, I havn't got any false pictures. Battery life still isn't what I would like. After 6 days, I needed to replace my batteries as they were entirely dead!

Friday, I will be checking the unit and looking to see if it is working like I want it, and if not, I will be calling the guys at Stealth Cam to get this problem resolved.

I just wanted you guys to know that Stealth Cam has stepped up to the plate and they are willing to stand behind their products. I am not sure if I would recommend their digital units at this time, but as far as their 35mm units go, I would and will continue to recommend them as they have surpassed every expectation that I have had for them.

Does this model have the option of the solar panel to extend battery life?

Okay guys, here is the pic of the chipmunk. I am sorry that it is large, but it has to be so you guys can see this little guy. I put an arrow above him so you guys can find him.

jsaker, yes, this model does have the option for a solar panel. I actually had one on order, but I cancled it as I didn't want to spend another $100 if this camera doesn't perform how I want it.

If the camera starts taking the pictures that it should (if I notice that it triggers faster), I will probablly get the solar panel in order to solve that problem, but like I said, I am not putting that much money into this if it still isn't working like I want it.

Buck Magnet, something still doesn't sound right to me. 6 days of batter life?

My Cuddeback gets anyway from 6-8 weeks before it starts getting weak.

Sorry Buck, but I think you might be stretching it a bit to say that the chipmunk, that I can't even see in the pic triggered the cam. If that were the case I think you'd be getting all knids of false triggers if it were that sensitive. JMO.

Glad to hear Stealth is stepping up to the plate though. Keep us updated on how it goes.

Double Creek,

Buck Mag is correct. The battery life on mine was 6AA's every 4 to 6 days. I too was VERY unimpressed with this cam and would certainly not suggest anyone waste their hard earned money on one. I'm waiting for my CuddeBack to get here but they are on backorder from Cabela's. I went this route knowing that Cabela's would get the newest updated model. I'll be sure to post my thoughts and opinions on this unit after I get it in the woods for a couple weeks.

hey buck magnet, let me know when you get tired of fooling with that store bought job and want a quality home brew! Be glad to help you out. Will cost you around 225-275.00 depending on the price you get your camera for. takes around a day to build once you have everything.

My TrailTimer Photohunter takes 1 lithium 9 volt battery. I put lithium in the camera also, and this gives me 3 to 3 1/2 months before a battery change! Thats averaging about 20 photos a week. I use 24 exposure film and sometimes when I check the number of photos I could of had in a week its around 45!

TrailTimer makes two new models the EZ cam and Ez cam plus 500. They work the same as the Photohunter, but have a new batter case. The Photohunter is around $229 and The new EZ Cam only $149 in Cabels's right now!

I also own a DEER Cam non-typical DC-100 and its nowhere as easy to use as the Trailtimer series of cameras.

Good Luck!

It's nice to know that stealth cam is going to take care of the issue.

For everyone only getting a week out of the batteries. Are you all useing the 3.0mp stealth cam? I'm getting almost 3 weeks from the batteries in my 1.3 digital.

If you end up keeping the unit the sportsmans guide has the solar panels and I believe they are cheaper.

http://www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=145822

$79.97 to be exact.
