RE: Passing time on stand...

I nap sometimes because I have to get up extra early to get to my spot. I have an hour drive. But most of the time I just enjoy all the animals and appreciate life.

I generally eat when i get bored.

I always carry some sort of quiet munchie like trail mix or jerky or sunflower seed to help me pass the time.

i love to just get out into the woods and listen to things. i like to close my eyes and imagine whats going on around me y just the sounds i hear.
Hey,Hey, you might have to leave that stuff at home......

Is eating aloud?
Smart @$$:D

Actually, I do take a bit to nibble on and a bottle of water with me....even for short trips. I don't eat to pass the time though, but when my stomach starts to rumble just about at the 'magic hour' I like to have something to curb the hunger....I usually have a snack about 2 hours before dark.

Then when I get home I eat a good meal and then sit down with a good book and my gameboy whilst I....

....nevermind, not appropriate!;):D

Other then the day dreaming I mentioned before, I can't do anything else but enjoy God's creation and the peace and quiet of the woods.

On stand, there are NO phones ringing, NO pagers going off, NO e-mails to reply to and NO people to deal with - it is great!!!

As the old saying goes..."A bad day hunting is better then a good day at work"

I take in everything around me. How the air smells , the sounds, and the sights. Sometimes I doze off though[8D], but never to deep, always hear what ever is scurring around.

Most of the time even on long hunts i would just day dream last year until i started bringing a book i had already read a zillion times with. That way i dont get too occupied in it. I'm in the woods alot during bow season, but even still, i use it as a time to relieve stress and relax. No sleeping whatsoever though. i can't really fall asleep though ina tree or on the ground.

In the early season I am generally timing how long I can stand to let the local mosquitos bite me before I have to move to swat them.

Pocket PC's work great...you can play a few games & the time really goes a little faster. I read when I am in a ground blind.

He who daydreams will never fill their tag!

I spend my time watching deer. If I don't see a deer with in the first 1/2 hour I wonder about the place I'm hunting. I'm spoiled and admit it. I scout preseason for traffic. If the Does are there the big boys will show up when they get horny.:D
I guess I should add the home owners and/or gardner will also let me know when and where they see the one I'm after.
