RE: I have an invention that could revolutionize bow hunting
Gibblets right, but your package contants have to be post-date stamped at the post office, and the package cannot be opened. I've looked into this whole thing before from a fishing product I came up with. A patent attorney will do a search for you, but cost you big bucks. Doing a patent search yourself will be free but cost you big time! The best thing I can suggest is to go to your library, research the whole process, and don't let your idea go dormant like I did. Oh yeah, do not respond to those guys you see on t.v, it's a waste of time and money. They will give you a market report on your product, make things sound good, then want more money. Good luck, and keep a good attitude.

RE: I have an invention that could revolutionize bow hunting
I really doubt you've come up with an idea that has never been tried before. Most all the 'innovative' features on bows today are ideas that were tried years ago and never caught on.
Go to ArcheryHistory.com and wander around in their site for a bit. You might see several versions of your invention in there. |
RE: I have an invention that could revolutionize bow hunting
ORIGINAL: TOBY V A Revolution. Great. What could it be. Deer comes in, you pull back the string, You shoot. Bowhunting by it's very nature is simple. Lets keep it that way. If you have a product that is going to simplify it more than compound bows, mechanicals releases and all that I dont want it. Dont get me wrong I love shooting my compound bow but I'm to the point where I wish I would have stayed with the recurve I started with when I was a kid and just mastered that. Hope your product does well. If it's that great of a product I would suggest you dont call any of those people before you get a patent on it. Hoopster ---- Don't be discouraged by naysayers. There are ALWAYS more good, undiscovered ideas. Just because it's simple does NOT mean that it's been done before. You may truly have something valuable to bowhunting and may provide a nice addition to your pocket book. I say go for it. You'll never knoe til you try. Good luck! |
RE: I have an invention that could revolutionize bow hunting
Get it patent. The whole process costed my brothers around 3 grand about ten years ago. Then you have to sell it yourself. Just because it is patent does not mean it will sell. Depending on the product, you may be better off manufacturing the product and sellling it then to distributers. The best advise any one can give you is to get good advise. Good luck. Hey, I wouldn't mind getting a free one either.

RE: I have an invention that could revolutionize bow hunting
In todays market it is really difficult to protect yourself from any infringments on an idea. By putting a patent on something like you are talking about the only people who will make money are the attorney's. First they make money by getting you the patent and then they make money off of you trying to defend it in the future. You may look into a trademark for the name and at the same time register a domain name for a web site. Web site's are a great way to promote a product, especially with links. I would strongly suggest you Not go to Cabela;s or Bass pro. R&D in those companies stands for rip off and duplicate, trust me on this one. You may want to team up with a an exsisiting Bow company to see if it a product they will incorporate in thier line. Have a good and clear contract if you go that route. In the recent issue of Petersons Bowhunting, it came yesterday, thier is an excellent article in the front of the magizine about a situation similiar to your's. The article profiles someone who invented a new product for bows and describes how he went about brining it to market. I forget the name of the company but find the article and you will get a good overview on his process. Hope this helps.

RE: I have an invention that could revolutionize bow hunting
Get in touch with a lawyer that strictly deals with patents. They should be able to answer your questions and also see if someone else has come up with the same idea. Good Luck

RE: I have an invention that could revolutionize bow hunting
I would also suggest that you take a copy of your plans to a Notary of Public and have him/her put thier stamp on it. This way you have someone with legal standing to back up your claim that you did in fact come up with this idea when you said you did, should you ever have to protect your idea from someone else.

If you are worry about this all you have to do is mail a copy to yourself and NOT OPEN IT! The post mark is a federal stamp and is what won the case for who really came up with the movie Coming To America. BTW he got nothing because Eddie Murphy cost too much.:D |
