RE: I have an invention that could revolutionize bow hunting
ORIGINAL: JoshKeller Personaly, I would attempt to get a patent on it invention first. Then I would thinking bigger than bass pro or cabelas. I would go straight to the bow makers.. Ie mathews, hoyt, bowtech, pse, etc. |

A Revolution. Great. What could it be. Deer comes in, you pull back the string, You shoot. Bowhunting by it's very nature is simple. Lets keep it that way. If you have a product that is going to simplify it more than compound bows, mechanicals releases and all that I dont want it. Dont get me wrong I love shooting my compound bow but I'm to the point where I wish I would have stayed with the recurve I started with when I was a kid and just mastered that. Hope your product does well. If it's that great of a product I would suggest you dont call any of those people before you get a patent on it.

This could even be used on a recurve bow...

Hoopy, grow up and learn life. A patent gains you nothing but tells people your for real. If you have something pony up the dough and file for a patent. I've done it but I can tell you it means nothing. Any company can produce it. It comes down to how much money you have to defend it in court. It cost a lot of money to proove you have the rights and most companies will settle out of court.
If you do have a good thing, get a Patent Attorney, file it and sell it. Good luck. |

Don't want to bust your bubble, but I doubt you have scraped the surface regarding a thorough patent search. A patent search is for more than just the invention and can take a very, very, long time and mucho bucks. Additionally, once you have cleared the hurdles on US patents, now you have to be sure that your invention has not already been invented in another country, in part or in whole.
A catalogue company very likely will not give you the time of day regarding an invention or stocking a homemade item that has not yet been marketed and is selling. |

First thing I would do is patent the idea. Once you've done that I'd got to cabelas or bass proshop. If you go to them first they my magically come up with the same idea. If you've already patented the idea you are protected by copyright laws.

i believe if you mail yourself the plans, and maybe even one of the items you invented, you have yourself protected. when you mail the patent office your plans, or cabelas or bass pro - make sure you have already done this - and that you have a copy of everything unopened with a dated postmark on it. make sure you do this BEFORE any one else gets their hands on your plan. this will help you get $ if someone steals it.
