Default Off Season...summer time treestand spot

OK... so here's a view for you folks who aren't fortunate enough to be
hunting and swatting bugs and dodging cicadas. Here are 3 views from
my hastily set up tree perch in Marks woods last Sunday. It's thick, but
still pleasant and I like thick anyway. There really are trails here. You
can see the one where they're crossing the creek. Thick, nasty.... but
my kind of place. I would have been up about 8 more feet except I
dropped my pruning saw on the first attempt. To late to climb down
and start over.

I didn't think about snapping any until it was almost dark. The ole digital did manage to get it though.

I'm jealous David. What I wouldn't do to spend an evening in a tree with the ability to arrow something. How have the bugs been?

Im a little north of you, and its thick here too man, I like to think of it as good cover. Sometimes you gotta listen for the animals because in the thick stuff you often hear a twig snap before you see what snapped it. But the cool part is they seem to appear outta no where.
Anyway looks good man, what kind of stand. And what is the deer season down there in maryland. You have a summer bow season?

You're right about the noise and lack of noise this time of year. Last week I was hunting at the Zoo (Dave was sleeping in) and had both instances happen. One spike buck appeared within 15 yards behind me and I didn't hear a sound.

Two days later I hear a loud 'crack' out in front of me. Ten seconds later three bucks come running through the woods right at me. They were chasing each other/playing. All 3 stood under my stand for about 10 minutes and then leisurely walked off with the bigger one leading.

The even wilder thing is that not one of them saw me. Two of them even looked right up in my direction only to look right through me. I'm not used to being so low (due to the heavy foliage) and not being detected. Thank you, ASAT.

It wasn't buggy up in the tree at all. Yes, climber. When I hit about 10 feet coming back down they found me. From there on out, including the 5 or 600 yard walk to the pick up point is was mosquito city. A breeze came up while I waited for the Rat Patrol and drove them away.
