RE: What is the best game camera to use??

I had my digital stealth out almost 3 weeks and when I checked it last night the battery light was on for the first time. I swapped them out without checking the pics. In this 3 week period the camera took almost 70 pics(mostly of me woking in my food plots). I'm using rayovac batteries from walmart and paid $7.00 and change for 24 batteries. So, basically for less than $8.00 I can get 12 weeks of battery life. At that price I'm not sure if rechargeables are worth the investment (besides being better for the environment which is why I will most likely change batteries once these 24 are gone).

Does the stealth take 6AA's? I think I did the math right on your post. Is that just for the camera, just the sensor or both?

The digital stealth takes 6 aa batteries that operate the whole unit(sensor and camera). I was amazed at how long they lasted. From post I read last year I thought they chewed up batteries but that has not been my experience. That may also have to do with the average temperature.

DeerT has a post going with some very nice pics he has taken with his digital stealth. For the price and the quality I've seen sofar I'm convinced this is the best buy on the market at this time.

Keep in mind that these pics were down sized to fit the 30kb limit. These pics are even better quality on a home computer at their original file size.

I figure most guys are happy if the can just make out the antlers any deer in the picture. Isn't that the idea anyhow?

Can you use the stealth digital camera by itself, seperate from the unit?

Good to hear you like the camera.

Yes and no. The unit is the unit. You can not take the camera out but you can change modes and use the cam as a camera. There is a shutter button on top of the housing to allow it to be used as a digital camera. I have taken a couple of pics like this just for $#!^$ and giggles and it works just fine. It also allows you to take a 10 second AVI video durring daylight hours.

Why do I have this picture in my head of a squirrel sitting up top on the unit pushing the button taking pictures? ;)

Since I am a beginner at these game cams, I think I will try the Stealth 35mm game cam. Walmart is selling them for $59.95.

I will stick with the camtrakker. Not the cheapest unit, and the developing can get costly, but I know that I will never miss a picture and the picture will always turn out fantastic. And for me, that is the reason I have one, not the cost but the end result.IMO.:D

Though I know they are not the "best" I would still recommend the stealth cams. My MC2G model has worked flawlessly and has done everything I could have asked it to do.
Thanks Frank! That's what I wanted to hear. If you dont mind I'll be asking you for a few pointers real soon.
