Today I was in bed sleeping after working night's ,the door bell started ringing and I just ignored it .Finally I answered it and it was my nieghbor asking me if I had a firearm's license . She had a groundhog in her back yard and it was acting peculiar and she called the bylaw officer ,he told her if she knew anyone with a firearm license they could shoot it for her .I have a firearm license but I wasn't about to take that chance unless the police were notified and They agreed to it .I went over to her back yard and the hog had walked into the long grass behind her house ,I told her that if she wanted I would shoot it with my bow ,she agreed that that would be fine because her young children were near it and that they were trying to pet it .So out came the BowTech Patriot dually called into action for the first time .I found the hog and it was hissing and making some other funny noises in the long grass ,so I drew my bow and released the first shot nailed it but I hadn't gotten a good shot so it didn't kill it but the second shot was on the money .The hog was finished now I had to take it elsewhere and bury it so the kid's didn't get at it .The nieghbor was very appreciative and now all my nieghbor's are asking me to come and shoot the groundhog's on thier property. haha
The new dually is 1 for 2 hope the rest of my season is as successful.

John,
Be real careful how you handle that thing, and the blood covered arrows........(maybe too late) Groundhogs aren't your typical rabies carriers but according to my local Veterinarian we have had a few cases here in PA of infected groundhogs over the years. Don't bury it where a local pet could eat the carcass either.
You may have saved those kids a nasty bite or worse.........

The arrow's held up fine gibblet,I was only about 10ft from the hog,I used an old arrow I had sitting around with a Steelforce 100. I was pretty careful not to touch the hog after Matt. I took a shovel to remove him ,I took it up in the bush and dug a hole and buried it .The nieghbour thought it might have rabies but when I seen it ,it looked like it might be injured {I hope}.

I had a ground hom after me once hissing actually to the point that I had to run from it a little. It had saliva all over its mouth. I went back to camp got my bow and returned to dispach it. I buried that one also. But something dug it up and ate it. That was years ago.

Welcome to the forum bukmastr! hopr to converse with you in the near future ,We have a great site here and you'll find that out for yourself very soon ,so don't be a stranger and visit regularly. Those hogg's can be a little ansey when they want to ,this one wasn't frothing at the mouth or anything, but it was acting peculiar and the kid's were getting too close for comfort and the hogg seemed to be hurt or something so he had to be taken out.
