Default whitetail outfitter in Illinois???

I will be looking to book a whitetail bowhunt for the 2005 archery season. I have decided to hunt Illinois since it is within a decent driving distance of NY (12 hours). Does anyone have any recommendations for an outfitter before I start my search? I am looking to spend $3000 or less for a 5-7 day hunt and I don't want to have to pay an additional trophy fee of $500-$1000 if I happen to shoot a 170"+ deer. Afterall that is why you pay the first $3000, to hunt trophy whitetails right?

Thanks.

You should search the outfitters section here on this site. You can book a hunt for much less than $3,000.

Check out the outfitters in Pike County, Illinois. This is supposed to be THE county for top whitetail.

I would like to hear good or bad experiences people have had with different outfitters. It doesn't matter if you were successful in filling your tag. That isn't neccessary to make it a worthwhile trip. The whole experience should be taken into consideration. Thanks.

Never met an outfitter.

Don't want to either.

MJR10:

If just a chance of "filling a tag" is your only requirement, and a guaranteed trophy kill is not an absolute, you can have a good hunt and a good time for far less than $3000.00 plus additional fees for a certain type of kill.

You have time to hit upon some of the guys here for an invite to hunt an area, with a "bring your own food and sleep in the barn" provision. That option can open to you other good states that are much closer to NY.
