i can't really answer your question, but i have recently become very interested in the lunar cycles and how they affect deer, especially in the breeding season. i am currently reading a book called hunting whitetails by the moon by charles j. alsheimer. very interesting read. lots of great info in there regarding deer behavior and the lunar cycles. you might want to check it out...

i'll be interested to hear some of the responses...

stay in bed until 10 get out of the woods at 3. They are more active at night, but like to stretch there legs durring midday. If its hot, sit on a known watering hole with thick cover.

"Show me" that is a very good book and I spent most of last season hunting by moon phases. It is amazing how much the moon effects deer movement. This year I plan on keeping a journal of deer spoted from the stand and moon phase.

Do you see more during the day when its a full moon because it is around rut, or does it change all the time?

I also see more in the middle of the day during a full moon cycle. Mostly because, in my opinion, they feed later in the night on a full moon night. Many people think deer feed more on a full moon night but I have not found that to be the case. You tend to see much less deer while spotting on a full moon night. I still hunt all day during the full moon cycle especially during the rut because you never know when good buck is going to show up. I have seen more good deer during the middle of the day during the full moon cycle but I have also seen them early and late also. Therefore, I hunt as much as possible that way i am there whenever they decide to move

I read Hunting Whitetails by the Moon this winter and found it very very interesting. I plan on using his ideas as a reference as to when the different phases of the rut begin. We'll how well it coincides. I have found that when I do see deer during a full moon it is after 9 am. I very rarely see deer during afternoon and evening hunts. If I do see any it is very early if I'm out there in time. We're under the full moon period right now and today while working outiside I saw 2 does standing in a corn field at 2 PM.
