RE: sight or target?

I focus on the target but shoot one eye open. I am left eye dominant and shoot right handed so I can't shoot both eyes open.

Mez I'm left eyed too but I shoot both eyes. Just took some practice. It's worth it.

So let me get this straight you can shoot with both eyes open even if you shoot with a peep sight?

YES!!! YES!!! YES!!!

Just look at any picture of a pro and you will see they are shooting both eyes open in just about every case, unless they are shooting the wrong hand verses eye dominance. That is very hard to accomplish,in most cases you would be better off to go with the dominant eye and switch hands.

You can keep both eyes open with a peep as long as you are not shooting cross dominant, so if you are right eye dominant shoot right handed. It can be done cross ways, but would take work.

I shoot pins, peep, both eyes open focus on the target. I get settled at full draw, line pin up on target then just focus on the target, the pin will float to there as long as you let it.

Like MA Jay said, both ways will work, I will say that the top level shooters I have talked to all shoot both eyes open focus on the target, not the pin.

I focus on the target. But then, I don't have any sights on my bow anyway...

What ever works the best.I found out If I just stare a hole thru the spot on the animal or target where I want the arrow to hit.

As Ma Jay stated above - there is not right/wrong answer
In competitive target archery many (not all) shooters focus on the dot/pin, reson being the dot in your 6X scope covers sometime the entire gold circle, so you don't see the X you're aiming at anyway. Also the lens, as it magnifies the target, magnifies the movement of your bow, trying to hold tiny dot/pin at the X will drive you nuts and may cause torque.
When hunting you're better off to pic a spot on the animal, don't loose it, and rely on almost automatic peep/sight alignment. "don't shoot at the animal, shoot at the spot"
I personally like my peep set up so as I anchor at full draw my peep encircles the round housing of my sight without any effort on my part. I find it more difficult to center the pin in the peep, that's why I use hunting sights with round housing.
Just my 2 cents.
