How quiet can you setup your summit?
I was just wondering how quiet you guys can setup your summit. I like the stand because it is very comfortable buy I always seem to make noise snapping the cable thing shut or some other thing. Also when I take it down and strap both pieces together it always makes clanking noises.

RE: How quiet can you setup your summit?
My Summit makes no noise at all. Oh, wait it is a lock on.
Sorry couldn't resist. I can't speak for the newer model Summits with the cable since mine is over 15 years old, long before cables were used on climbers. I do know that my Ol man sets up almost silently. |

The key is taking your time. I have a viper and as long as I take my time it's virtually noise free.

I have identified the areas where the small noises can come from and added some mole skin and that has helped alot, specially when it is dark 30! :D

I do pretty good but those little metal hooks on the elastic band that is on the seat back always seem th make the most noise. I am going to address that issue before the next season.

put some shrink tape on those hooks or electrical tape.

I think the cable stops sound like a slam bar as they bang through the aluminum frame. Even the normal banging when taking the stand off my back and getting it on the tree make me cringe. I've spent too many years silently slipping into natural ground blinds to think any climbing stand is "quiet".

The key is taking your time. I wrapped those hooks in electrical tape....seems to work well.

Mine goes up pretty quiet if I'm careful.

It took me several times using it, to develop a technique to keep it quiet. I attach the metal hooks on the seat strap, to part of the frame, so they don't move. Even so, every now and then I make a loud noise with it, that has me cringing. Fortunately, most deer don't seem to pay much attention to it, since I frequently have deer around me while climbing.
