Hey digga,
My advice is to practice, practice, practice. But practice the right way. By joining a local archery club other members or coaches can give you a bit of guidence, but be weary of people telling you the wrong thing.

Also my first few hunting expirences were by tagging along with other experienced hunters to try and learn the ropes. He was my best friend and we still hunt together whenever we can. Often two heads are better then one in many situations including planning stalks, spotting game and getting yourself unlost (not that that ever happens to me)

Bowhunting and archery can be very frustrating at the best of times[:@], so when this happens you may like to give it a rest for a few hours or untill you get your cool back[8D], otherwise you run the risk of forming bad habits with your shooting form. And trust me buddy bad habits are hard to break[:@].

Good luck and I hope I've helped some. This forum is a great way to learn how to better your bowhunting skills and I have learnt stacks from other members. You might like to be a little more specific with your questions though, cos I bet everymember could write 40 000 words on bowhunting stuff for you to know.

Catchya round da ridges mate,
Stalkin Steve

P.S. I would try not to ask what bow or equipment is the best cos it will start an everlasting debate and come to no conclusions. Everyone has there personal preference.

hold on there buddy, if you wanna bow-HUNT, you need to take an archery class that can be found in your area through the dec website. it is usually about 8-10 hours long but on separate dates. i wish i could post more on here, but i got to go to school in 20 minutes so i will be back on tonight!

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on choosing such a great sport to pursue. My best suggestion is to have a great deal of patience and do not buy into every gadget or gizmo that you see advertised. Some of them are very good but only you can make yourself a better bowhunter.

mattisbob and Klondike,

Here is the # that you need to call to get in touch with the IDFG for classes (208) 769-1414. They are having another sign up on June 2nd. However, I don't know where so you will need to call them. That # is the Coeur D'Alene #. It is in your region. Thanks and good hunting!!
