Default G5 Mechanical!!! Looks AWESOME!!!

I've always been a huge fan of the blade deployment style of the Snyper BH but hate the tip (seen 2 bend and one break on elk, deer and a coyote). The rearward opening blade deployment eliminates a lot of the negatives associated with mechanical heads that pivot open (loss of energy, catapulting, etc.) Well, G5 might have the ticket here!!! Take a look!

I think I may be hunting with these this year! I'm going to change to mechanicals...I think these may be winners.

Are you supposed to shoot it, or book a flight on it?

I like the design as well. It will be interesting to actually get my hands on one as some times pictures are not really good at actually depicting the physical size of the head. If that front fixed blade it as large as it appears in the picture then I might not get a pack...but if it is actually smaller then I might have just found a new head as well.

How much are they.....$40 for 3?

From the looks of it, it relys on something pushing rearward on the blades that causes them to pivot out due to that rounded part rubbing against the base of it. Which makes me wonder if they'll lock open (making them illegal most places as a barbed head) or, once the initial push from entering the hide is gone, they'll slide closed making the wound channel basically the 5/8" size of the leading portion. I'd be interested in seeing them tested.

In flight the blades are held closed and secure without any o-ring or clumsy clip assembly. The simple "spring washer" keeps the blades closed until impact and ratchet the blades open, keeping the blades from closing prematurely during penetration through flesh.
I don't know if I trust that or not.
