While your at it take a look at the other pages and let me knwo what you think of the new format. I am now able to put a few more tests up at once.

Just curious as to why you rated the 85 grain head a 5 in the plywood test and the 125 grain a 3. It appears that they performed about the same by your description?

Hey 5shot,I like the format but you didn't give the cutting diameters or I am just blind and can't find them.
I would also like to know if you are using the broadheads on the same arrows and what kind of foc you get with each, especially when doing a side by side comparison like this.Maybe a little more info like speeds and arrow weight would be nice because we all have different uses and setups and it may help make a choice when we know these things. But overall I think it is great.

cutting diameters are 1 1/8" for the 125's and 7/8" for the 85's. The differnce in the plywood scores comes down to penetration. The 85's made it completely through the board, where the 125's did not. both were undamaged. I think the 125's are every bit as good as the 85's, they don't penetrate as well, but cut a larger hole. The 85's are going to be geared towards hunters that don't generate much KE or for those speed freaks that want a super accurate fixed blade head. For accuracy testing I shoot 2314 aluminums 27" fletched with 4 3" feathers. For the "abuse testing" i use cabelas carbon stalkers with 3 4" vanes. The carbon arrows hold up much better. A lot of people have asked about the accuracy score for th 85. It is small and low profile, and shoots as well as any mechanical I have tried. It's flight is very similar to the wasp boss bullet, rocket ultimate stee, and rcoky traditions. Foc is the 125 grn heads is around 12% while the smaller heads would probably be right around 9 to 10%. The latter figure is just a guesss though.

As always, nice review. I am curious though, did you not notice any planing issues with these heads? I would guess not based on the scores but thought I would ask anyway.

Frank, the 125's fly like most fixed blade heads. They are very accurate, but will plane if the bow is not tuned. The 85's are small enough that I didn't find any planning at all. They are much like a mechanical in that reguard. Of course the don't make nearly as large a hole as the bigger heads.

I think most states have adopted the 7/8" minium. There is probably some exceptions but that's why you see so many companies settling on this size for their small super accurate heads.
