Double lungs, heart, or heart and double lungs?
#21
My first deer was a heart shot. Cut the main artery right off. He ran about 25 yards and tiped over dead. I have had pretty much the same happen with the double lung. I agree with most here that the double lung offers a bigger target I now go for that. Either way the animal will go down quickly which I think is the point.

How can you hit both lungs at 20 yards from a treestand? With how high i go in the tree, its all but impossible. At the step angle it takes out the near lung and the heart. Just wondering. At my angle you are more likely to miss an animal going for a DL then a heart shot. Your arrow would have to just hit the top of the near lung and the bottom of the far lung. If you miss high you spine it. Any else get this high?

I will take either, but I usually shoot at the lungs because its a bigger kill zone to aim at and that dreaded shoulder blade might come into play if the animal moves the same instant you shoot at the heart. I shot a buck from the ground through the heart..it traveled less than 25 yards.

As high as a tree will allow me to get. I have one that is 35 ft (Not for windy days). I have one treestand out of maybe 20 that is less then 25 ft off of the ground. I could possibly get a DL but it would be the very top of the near lung and the bottom of the far lung.
