RE: Who Practices Year-Round? Is it REALLY Necessary?
You hit the nail on the head Arthur P. If you gun hunt you can get away with not practicing until a week before the hunt. A gun is a lot more forgiving than a bow. If you happen to have an errant gut shot with a gun because you jerked the trigger from not practicing you still have a good chance of harvesting the animal. If you gut shoot a deer with a bow, you just made a coyote's job a whole lot easier cause you probably won't find it.

try doing it with a REAL bow and REAL skills If you gun hunt you can get away with not practicing until a week before the hunt. |

Arthur, stealthy started all this BS by saying that compound hunting was a joke and no challenge and by saying the crossbow and compound were one in the same.
I for one enjoy shooting my compound and I shoot it almost year round, not everyday, but enough to stay consistent. I have a lot respect for you trad guys, but statements like his really put a bad light on your type of shooting. |

Arthur P wins again.

When you guff and hit the shoulder. Why do people hunt elk with a 7mm instead of a .243? Forget it I'm never going to change your mind. Arthur P once again you are the man. |

RE: Who Practices Year-Round? Is it REALLY Necessary?
That is a totally rediculous statement!! Not practicing with a gun is just as bad as not practicing with a bow in my book!! A gut shot deer is still a gut shot deer!! |
RE: Who Practices Year-Round? Is it REALLY Necessary?
Arthur P -
" Opening day is this Friday and my broadheads won't fly straight ... HELP " Ever wonder why those posts don't come around in April and June ? Bottom line folks, a compound is an easier piece of equipment/weapon to use than a longbow or recurve is and a self bow is harder than those. Thats just plain facts or everyone would be shooting recurves/longbows, right ? That doesn't mean the personal challenge is any greater or that is lesser - its just talking and saying how one weapons is easier to shoot than another. Aint that something how compound scores were so much higher at 30% greater distances than the recurves were ? |
RE: Who Practices Year-Round? Is it REALLY Necessary?
How about this twist .....
I can pick up any of ya'lls compound (assuming its tuned and around 28" draw) and I can shoot it better in 20 minutes than I can with my longbow after shooting it for 3 years. What do ya'll think of that ? It is a true statement. I could take a tuned compound out into the woods and after 30 minutes practice assuming a deer gives me a 20 yard shot. Yes, I believe compounds are that easy to shoot. |
