Stealth - There are probably more muzzleloader elitists than there are archery elitists! You using a flintlock and patched round ball?? Wearing your leathers?

Sorry if I misread you, Stealthycat. I do it all ... bow, rifle, muzzleloader ... so I'm certainly no elitist!! I just enjoy the hunt too much and will do it with whatever weapon has a season open.

Rack - You are absolutely right! I thought that was your post I was reading, not Double Creek's!

I didn't want to cave in, but 1 more post before I leave for the weekend.

Anything above stealthy's trad stuff is all lumped together as space shuttle technology. No one else can be right when arguing with him.

Xbows and compounds ARE NOT equal. ARCHERY equipment is drawn by hand, not shot like a GUN! I don't care if Xbows are used to hunt deer, just not while REAL bows(even those new fangled space shuttle compounds) are in season.

Take your trophy hunting to a whole new level and try doing it with a REAL bow and REAL skills instead of shooting a release, fiber pins and high tech thing that resembles a piece of the space shuttle.
Stealthy,

Why don't we see who has taken it to what levels by comparing success rates vs. years hunting vs. number of lets say 115 class deer and bigger. I bet we can narrow down who's blowing wind and who's backing up what they are saying. It's easy for someone to set and say how challenging their type of hunting is etc. but the fact is that I have killed 11 deer that will score 115 or better (I remember posting a pic or two back in the day of a couple of 160 +ers)r and I haven't seen my 30th birthday. You can talk about how mindless or brainless compound hunting is but the fact is that I am knocking them down. A more interesting comparison, in my opinion, would be to compare numbers

PS I am going on my 16th year of bowseason

I must ask again, ewolf, do you live in a box?

stealthy started all this by saying compound hunting was not real hunting. Silent along with others have stated that shooting dinks is not real hunting. Can't you see that..........

Taking big animals has very little to do with the hunting ability of the person,
Knowing where silent lives, I can tell you that it has EVERYTHING to do with hunting ability.

Stealthy,

I found one of those pictures from back in the day. I thought you might enjoy it while you were contemplating what inferior deer hunters we compound shooters are

Stealthy

If your saying (as if you haven't been for years) that traditional bowhunting is more challenging than compound hunting , I disagree!

Traditional bowhunting requires much more practice to become proficient in the field , but a proficient trad bowhunter hunting within his own limitations is no more challenging than a proficient compound bowhunter hunting within his own limitations! Think about it!

I've heard you compare compounds to trad bows and how much easier they are in regards to letoff , sights , releases , etc. Well , I can certainly turn the table and say that the letoff comes with a price , compounds in general are harder to draw , you dont hold the weight with a trad bow , you draw , anchor and shoot in one fluid motion. You dont worry about sight pins , releases , etc. Compounds are heavier than trad bows. If a deer catches me by surprise I can hold my recurve out in front of my body all day ,if I try that with my compound my arm will fall off. You hunt within your yardage limitations and know where to aim when the time comes. If I'm hunting with a compound within the same yardage limitations as you and we both know without a doubt we can hit what we're aiming at within those limitations , how is your way more challenging? If you say a trad bowhunter has to get closer to the game , I'll challenge you to do a poll on how many compound hunters shoot deer 20 yards and closer every year! I love shooting and hunting with recurves but I dont buy that superiority B.S.!
