There is no doupt in my mind that standing is the much better option.

You increase your range of movement by over 90 deg.

And you are much better conceiled when standing along a tree than when you are sitting like a big blob sticking out.

I practice both but make every effort to get up when I see deer.

I along with most of you much prefer standing while shooting. I think there would be less of a chance for hand torque, punching or pulling with your bow hand if your standing. I would think that shooting while sitting down would be harder and would require a fair amount of practice to be really efficient. But I'm not sure.

I prefer to stand, but I can shoot while sitting.

Two words of advice about shooting and sitting.
1. Dont let the cam hit your leg, in practice mine did and the arrow launched about 10' over the target.
2. If you are using a tree stand with a rail, make sure you lean way over so the string does not hit the rail. Once again, I learned the hard way.

Right now I am tring to learn to shoot sitting on the ground with my back against a tree. I am going turkey hunting in two weeks and hope to take one with a bow.

I have shot deer sitting and standing in my stand, whether I need to shoot standing or sitting I am always ready because I practice these shots year round.

I AGREE WITH TIMBERJACK, I HAVE TAKEN ALL MY SHOTS STANDING UP, AS SOON AS I SEE A DEER ITS THE FIRST THING I DO. I THINK MY CONTROL IS MUCH BETTER STANDING UP.

Every shot I've ever taken was standing.

Both - but if you do both, practice both. Different draw length (feel) when sitting than standing.

Took my biggest ten point two years ago while sitting.

Also, when practicing, make sure you do different things, such as crouching, leaning and odd twist angles. I have a platform nailed up in a tree in my backyard. Kind of a pain in the butt climbing up and down when practicing, but hey, that excercise is good :-)
