Default How high

I just bought a Summit Viper XLS treestand. How high should I go? I will drag some tree limbs around my stand to help me blend in. I can't seem to get over 12 feet. Mabey with some practice I will lose that fear. I know that if you go to high then the shot will be at a steep angle. If you hunt at too steep of an angle you have a better chance of missing the kill zone. What hight do you hunt at?

I hunt from 12-30 ft depending on back ground cover and other variables. Most of the time I hunt 18-22ft with the average being about 20ft. I like to be about 20 ft off of the ground.

I've killed as many deer from 10' up as I have from higher. I don't like bowhunting from higher up due to the angle of the shot.

Depending on area and cover ,my average height would be 18 to 20 feet.Just a hint,to get over your fear of going higher place a stand in your yard at a comfertable height, sit in it for a while, the next day go a little higher and so on.But please dont forget your safety strap. While your up in your stand take a dozen arrows up with you and practice shooting from your stand as well. Before long you will be confortable at any height and be ready for hunting season

Anywhere between 12 and 20 feet. I never go above 20 though, not because I don't like heights, but if I were to fall I would deffinatelty break something important from up higher.

20'-25' in less populated areas. In over population areas you need to be 30'+. Anything lower at it will be tough to shoot a huge buck (160 class). There are too many eyeballs from the herd of the little ones.
