Default Pendulum Sights

My dad just picked up his new Matthews Outback today and he had a pendulum sight put on it. He had a pendulum sight on his old bow, a 1989 Bear Whitetail Legend. I always questioned the sight, because if you are out in your treestand all day, and it is raining, the sight WILL get wet. And then if it starts to get cold out, that water might start to freeze and the sight might not be as effective because it might not be so free swinging as it was when the water is making it stick. Even though, it is good out to 40 yards with compensation and the way it maxes out on the angle and you automatically kno ur at 40 yards, that is good but what about the freezing possibility?

IMO, you're thinking waaaaayy to hard. Granted, I suppose with ANY moving part there is always the chance of failure BUT the "freezing rain" debate just isn't legit for most bowhunters. I don't believe that the vast majority of hunters would be out in those conditions and the ones that would hunt would certainly be going over their equipment every once in awhile to insure proper function. You would need to be constantly checking your sights, rests, release, cams, axels, string peep, basically everything on your hunting rig. Also, simple condensation from cold air/warm air wouldn't be enough to freeze any mechanisms unless you were speaking of temps that would rival the Artic, again I just don't believe the "average" bowhunter would endure these conditions for any length of time. Best advise would be to spend the $$$ on top quality equipment that is the best in it's class and trust that you get what you pay for. There are some great products out there this year including some really cool Pendulum sights.

Check out the new Trophy Ridge MANTIS. This exciting new "hybrid" Pendulum also doubles as a very nice movable sight when the Pendulum is locked down. A super top quality ALL metal machined sight that just packed with exciting features. My guess is that we are all going to be hearing a lot about these new sights this year. I plan on using mine in the Turkey blind soon and then hitting 3Ds all season to give it a good "test" before deer season this fall. Check one out.
