Default My archery buck.

11-10-03
I got him. I was in the red oaks. Saw one doe first thing in the morning. Chased two deer out going to my tree. Saw two yearlings, they came through right behind me. Then I saw a three point. He came in and laid down right in front of me and went to sleep for a little bit. He was only about 25 yards away. I was getting tired of sitting so I wanted to get down but the little buck was still sleeping there. So I took my grunt call and kept grunting at him hoping he would leave. I did this for about 5 minutes. And he finally decided to leave. SO I put my orange vest on and let my bow down. Then I heard something walking behind me, so I looked and an 8 point was coming right to me. So I had to get my bow back up. I knocked an arrow. The buck stopped behind some pines, so I grunted twice and I heard him raking the branches. Then he started right for me, and came out on the old road about 10 yards away. I drew back. He was facing right toward me. Then he turned and started walking toward the grown up field. I bleated and he stopped. I laid my pin right behind the shoulder (right in the ol’ boiler room) And then I sent the arrow on it’s way. I saw the arrow hit. It was a little high, but good. The buck took off into the golden-rod field. He was running toward the corner of the woods. Then he turned back toward the middle of the field. All of the sudden he stumbled backwards and fell over. I was thrilled; I thanked the Great Spirit. I stood in my tree for a couple of minutes, then I got all of my stuff around and got down out of the tree. Once on the ground I checked for blood. It was spayed all over (really good sign) There was even some blood smeared on a rub bed tree on the edge of the field. So I headed out into the field, which was about shoulder high with golden-rod, and was looking around for my buck. After looking for a little bit I found him. He was not a monster by any means. But he was a trophy to me and it was a great morning and a great buck. 8 point with a 16 inch spread.

Hey Swamp Dawg, did you get to go to the Sugar Bowl? I got to go for free, and it was awesome.

Timber why not take a digital picture of the picture you took of the deer? Congrats on that trophy. What is that white stuff on the deer in the pic above?

The white stuff is the paper mache I used to set the horns.
