I had just seen a couple pictures like this in the archery shop I go to. The story behind the pictures I saw was that 2 giant Illinois bucks got tangled up and never got seperated. 2 guys had stumbled upon them while scouting out an area.

Great pics. Reminds me of a european mount they used to have in the pro shop by the range where I learned to shoot. They had two skulls locked up inside of a glass case. Always thought that was an awesome display.

Couple a nice bucks by the way, I remember the story on the big buck that was toting the other bucks decapitated head around and someone ended up shooting him...I think it was a couple a years ago on that story, but not sure...

I got the same pics emailed to me about a month ago with a "story". Don't know if it's true but here it is,....

{These two bucks were locked together from fighting. The guy that found them was going to his stand that evening, and heard a bunch of noise, so he went to see what it was and found the bigger buck dragging the smaller one it was already dead. The big buck was worn out and it would have either starved to death or have been eaten alive by coyotes or dogs. He shot the deer with his bow and got help to load them up. At the check station, a game warden issued him a permit for the other one. He was offered $30,000 for the two locked deer by some guy from New York. He took them to a taxidermist and is having the two bucks mounted like they are (full body mounts). They were found in Schuyler County, Illinois in November, 2003.}

Now, sounds a little far to me, but ya never know what "could" happen.

That does look like an IL archery tag. It does look like they should have been able to get apart.
A guy that I work with has some pictures of 2 bucks locked up, that an out of state hunter shot up in Cahoun county during gun season. The bigger buck stabbed the other one thru the neck with his mainbeam. The smaller one almost returned the favor. His mainbeam was pushing on the other ones neck. If his mainbeam would of been a few inches longer, they would have killed each other with similar wounds.

I will see if he will let me borrow the pictures to post.

Those are some very impressive racks. I am surprised we do not see that type of thing more often. I would have loved to have had a crack at atleast one of them. ;)
