Mathews Owners
With all the posts going on about who owns what, I thought that we should hear from the Mathews owners. Seems like we are a silent majority these days. Count me in for 2.

My wife asked me if I wanted her to pick it up for me today while I'm working[&:] I said thats o.k. I'll pick it up in the morning. I knew full well that she'd just toss it in the van like a bag of groceries and forget to seatbelt it in.:( |

My MQ32 is coming up on it's 5 th. season. I would like to get a new a bow but this one fits me so well that I hate the thought of parting with it. This is my second Mathews and probably not my last.

RE: Mathews Owners
Have an MQ1, which I absolutely love, bought a Legacy and liked it. Sold the Legacy and bought the LX and liked it. Sold the LX and bought the Outback, which I really like alot. Wonder what they will be coming out with next year?

RE: Mathews Owners
ORIGINAL: Rack-attack Oh....I see this is another loser thread Must of clicked the wrong button......again [8D]:D I have any LX right now, thinking of trading it on for an Ourback! My LX will be a year old in April!!!:( And Reacher where did you get the Mathews LX picture thing for the signature, I want one of those! |
RE: Mathews Owners
Rack ......It's bad enough that you had to shoot that elk of a whitetail this year.........then start posting near perfect spot scores........now you got to make fun of my bow too ????? :D
|
RE: Mathews Owners
I am on my 2nd Mathews, an Ultramax, and may be buying my third this summer. I am leaning toward an Outback, but the high brace is a real bummer for me. I will give a look to the new Parker 32, as well as the MM VFT, but because of how well my last two M bows performed, the Outback is in the lead.
|
RE: Mathews Owners
PMantle, the Outback ia quite fast, evem though the specs do not state it, it is a bundle in itself, the high brace is needed on a little bow, especially for shootability!
|
RE: Mathews Owners
Jeff,
Thanks for the reply. I left out the fact that I have very short arms for my height, and only have a 27" draw. I have always shot bows with brace under 7", and have never had any trouble. I may be worrying needlessly, but I still worry about speed, I just hate the idea of giving up power stroke from my current and past setups. As I mentioned in a prior thread, if I do go with a bow with a brace close to 8", I will likely either build a new grip, or use a shim to shoot a longer effective draw. If that doesn't work out, I can always trade out the cam for the shorter draw, and return to the original grip. |
RE: Mathews Owners
Pmantle ......I have had a Ultra2 , LX , and now an Outback ....I'll list the speeds w/a wisker biscuit rest & 350 grain arrow! The Ultra 2 shot 298 @ 70 # , LX 300 fps @ 69 # , and the Outback 298 fps @ 69 # !! I think they have underrated the Outback !! The extra BH is nice for me @ 30" draw !!

I love seeing posts from you guys that have actually shot the bows and recorded your own speeds. I do have a question though, and I do not want to start any bickering, but wasn't the Ultramax and U2 listed by Mathews to be in the mid 320's ibo? I cannot get to the site right now for some reason. If so, was the Ultramax overrated speedwise? Oh, one more question. I opted for the 65% max cam when I bought my Ultramax. I hate it. It feels more like 40%, and tries to rip my arm off at times. I have read similar stories about the cam on the LX and outback. Are the two cams similar in this regard? I will likely go with 80% on the new one. Thanks guys. |
RE: Mathews Owners
I have a Q2 and love it. Really makes shooting fun.
|
RE: Mathews Owners
Pmantle.....can't speak for the Ultramax !! But my Ultra2 was a 65% ! I didn't think it was as bad as the 80% maxcam [:'(] !! The newer ones are not nearly "as" bad of arm jerkers.....but still are to an extent ! I personally like the 80% HP cams the best of any Mathews cams to date ! The draw is smoother and more even .....and the draw stop is a great addition !!
I think you will be blown away with the difference in shot noise and vibration between your Ultramax and an Outback !! :D |
RE: Mathews Owners
legacy owner here and i gave my old mathews, z-max to my dad. all of my archery kills have been with mathews
|
RE: Mathews Owners
Brand new Q2XL for me.

RE: Mathews Owners
Thanks Reacher,
PMantle don't worry about speed, the Outback has it, just worry on what bow is the smoothest! The 80% let off on the Outback and LX is nice, I shoot 80% on my LX, and would not shoot 65%!!;) |
RE: Mathews Owners
went to the shop at lunch. The Outbacks were in. I love the new camo. The grip is an improvement, IMHO, over the older grips. I did not have time to shoot one, but I did draw a 29". It was much smoother than my bow with the max cam, but it was backed off some. I could creep more than with the Ultramax, but not much more. There were no 04 Bowtechs, so I could not compare it to the MM VFT anyway. I will go back when I have more time.
|
RE: Mathews Owners
I've got the MQ-32, and don't have any plans to own another bow.
|
RE: Mathews Owners
Over the years I've owned the Mq32, Q2XL, Legacy, now the Outback.
|
RE: Mathews Owners
I buy a new Mathews each year (generally) and now have an Outback. Love it, love it, love it!
|
RE: Mathews Owners
I have been shooting a Q2 for he past 3 years. I went to the shop just about an hour ago to shoot the Outback to see if it was really as great as everybody is saying. I shot the LX last year and just didn't like it enough more than my Q2 to shell out $650.00 for it.
As I said I just got back from shooting the Outback. I just had to see if it was that much better than my Q2. It is really one sweet bow. I couldn't believe how quiet and how smooth it was. As someone else said, the new grip design is a big improvement over the old grips. Very nice shooting bow. Oh by the way, did I mention that mine will be in in about 2 weeks!!!:D Just couldn't pass it up. Ya only live once I guess! |
