Unfortunately, you will get almost as many differing opinions as you get answers. Difficult to take much direction from that. The truth be known, there are lots of manufacturers making fine bows in your price range. Pick a good bow shop and shoot a few and decide which one you like the best. If you have to buy one sight unseen, or strictly by whichever one is recommended the most, there is a good chance you will not get the bow you would have preferred.

Check out Huntersfriend.com and read about the terminology and different specs to look for in a bow. It'll help you narrow your search.

Everyone will tell you to buy whatever brand bow they are shooting, "HPE Hyperflex Magnum's are the best bow onthe market!"
In my opinion about any name brand bow within the same price range will offer similiar quality. I'm shooting a Bowtech Stalker that I bought for well under $400.00, so I'll cast my vote for that. |

To get a complete setup and not just a bow look towards the High Country Lineup. I might get slandered for saying that but I'm a High Country Supporter.
For 2002 Outdoor Life Magazing reported that the best money spent would be on a High Country Power Force X1. At $229.00 which prodeces and IBO of 303 at 70 lb and 30 inch draw and a 350 grain arrow. Although a little long at 38 inches. And then there are the brownings which I have to admit are pretty impressive for the price. I don't own any but if the price was right who says I couldn't. |
