What would you rather harvest with a bow:

A. 3 1/2 year old buck that scored 150
B. 5 1/2 year old buck that scored 130

Do you put more emphasis on antler size or age of deer when judging a trophy?


BTW, if you are just a "meat" hunter, don't bother stating that fact, its well understood. Also, I know ALL deer taken with a bow can be a trophy, please refrain to answering the question if possible. Thanks.

I would rather harvest the 150 class. Since I have never got one that big, that would be the one I would shoot.

3-1/2 is old enough for me

I would have to say it totally depends on how it stacks all those inches on his head.

Some 150 nontypicals are not the equal of some 130 typicals in my book.

But both being typical and similar in shape, I take A.

I would rather take the older deer, but if they were standing together I am afraid I would be ventilating the 150 deer, which is actually a shame because when he is a 4 1/2 he would be close to B&C.

It's no suprise that the challenge of a 5 1/2 year old harvest is more challenging so I take the 5 1/2. However I would get the 4 1/2 moster the following year.
