Sounds like a great place to hunt. The older bucks will be hanging out in here, and come rifle season, this is where all the deer will be.

We have a couple 5 acre patches that are dynamite. These 3 bucks were shot off one such place this year. All were shot from the same tree. We also whacked a few does in the place. The double of Len's was actually a triple. He whacked a doe first but we had to take her out a different direction as she traveled a ways. It all happened in 30 seconds. The bucks dropped within 40 yards of each other. I was driving back from NY at the time. I got a frantic call on the cell phone he needed help. Fortunately I was within 30 minutes.

[8D] Take the gentleman up on his offer. Some of my sweet spots are on small acreage and your description sounds like it might be one of those hidden gems. It is a start on the fellas property. Thank him and nurture the frienship. Remember, you will be the sole hunter there and some of the others hunters could easily push nice deer your way.

It doesn't take much land to hunt on espeacially if they cross it all the time .You just never know all it takes is a small portion of your time and a little bit of help.

Ya darn right i would be hunting it. Maybe that ol' Farmer knows something
you dont know, and that's why he gave you that area???? Ever thought of that?

It could be used as a funnel area or an escape route. I would be on it ASAP

Good Luck and let us know!;):):D

Thanks for the input guys..

I will be hunting it this season to see what happens.. It's just kinda rough to really explain how it lays out .. What concerns me the most is the creek..

Really steep and the only way for the deer to really come to the set i'm talking about is to cross that bridge.. I have been on and scouted the property and walked that creek area to try and find a possible crossing that they can use..
I found 1 area that they drink at but for them to get up the other side they would need a helicopter..:D... I'm talkin really steep banks but, however now that i just wrote and saw the LIGHT i beleive i know where i'll be hanging a stand for this season...geeezzzhhh i'm a lainbrain..lol

But that aside ,does anyone think that deer will cross that bridge early morn or late eve?

They probably are not affected by that bridge as much as you would think. I have a couple of bridges on my land I hunt, one with 3 stairs going up and down both sides. Deer cross it with not a care in the world. Its the presence of activity by humans that will deter them. And I have seen deer walk up a bluff on the Mississippi that I would not attempt. Unless there is absolutely no incline and its straight down they may walk up. Try and find a trail among it. Go to the bottom and think like a deer. What way would you take if you were a weary old record book buck?
