Isn't it high contry that says their bows will shoot 3 grains/per pound of draw. They claim some fast speeds using very light arrows...

Who was it that said their bows were so good you could "DRY FIRE" them. To prove it they had them at the AMO show a couple years ago. They pulled one back to demonstrate and after a couple shots it BLEW UP. Nyuck Nyuck NYuck.. TAlk about egg on your face.:D

this would only really be logical as use for 3d shoots
think of it you could have two pins one set close and one set far and the only thing you would have to worry about is being able to tell when you are to far for the close pin
speed=true forgiveness but kentic energy and a well placed arrow=dead animals(in an ethical way)

I guess I should explain my earlier post...

Tell me. Taking urban sprawl into account and how where there are homes where there were nothing but boonies in the past... When arrow speeds start breaking 400 fps, where are you going to go to shoot your bow?

At our club, we have extraordinary problems trying to get a safe layout at our range with the speeds bows are already shooting. We've got 20 acres and have to be very careful to design layouts that will realistically keep arrows within our property boundaries. I can see the day when shooting 3D with high power compounds gets too dangerous and we'll be forced to create our own speed limit restriction or restrict compounds to shooting arrows only on our high banked practice range... what is actually a rifle range-type configuration. We have even kicked around the idea of becoming a traditional-only club due solely to the safety issue.

Either way, we're going to be blasted for being anti-compound, anti-technology anti-this and anti-that. That's the breaks, I guess, when you don't let people play with the toys they want to play with. But I'd rather have us branded all those things instead of risking one of our new neighbors across the road being killed by a stray arrow.

Your arrow speeds are already creating problems for archery ranges. The more urban the club's location, the smaller the tract of land the range is on, the tougher the problems are.

You guys that shoot high speed arrows in your back yards. Do you have any idea of how foolish and dangerous that is? All it takes is ONE release malfunction. ONE broken cable. ONE stuck rest. ONE little mistake and somebody can die.

Get off this stupid speed kick while there are still places where you can shoot. You've already got PLENTY of feakin' speed. Learn how to shoot the damn bow!

Your theory of noise and vibration dampening accessories allowing a lighter than recommended arrow being shot from the bow has some major holes.

First: post-shot noise and vibration is after the fact. Second: post-shot noise and normal vibration is not what damages the bow.

Using a simple explanation; the weight of the shaft plays a vital part in helping absorb the SHOCK of the limbs (energy) and the sudden stop that the modern non-stretch strings impart. You might get away with shooting overly lightweight shafts for a time, but the bow and its components are being over-stressed and the probability of catastrophic failure is just around the corner.

Besides; do you want to kill a deer or just tickle its butt? ;)

PS: Have you ever seen a compound blow up? I have a friend that almost lost half of his face when his blew up, a result of exceeeding the limits of the design of his bow.
