RE: Got me thinking

But post shot vibration IS what damages the bow.
I don't think so. The post shot vibration is only the residue energy of the initial shock of being nearly dry fired and is bouncing back and forth in the bow. All that excess energy in the bow when the string slams back to brace is the biggie. I've never seen a bow fly apart a second after the arrow is gone. It's ALWAYS just as the shot is made. You release and BLAM. Then you're standing there with parts raining down around you, wondering what the %$&! happened.

It'd be nice if the bow did wait a second or two, start smoking, clanking and rattling around and give you SOME warning, so you can throw the SOB as far as you can before it blows up. :)

Did you know that most people are shooting arrows that are lighter than the .58 caliber Minie balls I shot from my replica Civil War muskets? Those bullets weighed an average of 475 grains. It just seems a little creepy that today's arrows already weigh less than yesterday's standard military issue bullets.

:D:D When the described circumstance is mentally visualized, it is funny as hell!

RE: Got me thinking

The IBO has addressed it to some extent. They do allow a short draw person to shoot whatever grain per inch they would like but they must stay at or below 280 fps, this insures a safety zone for them as well.Low energy bows(such as short draw and low pundage) stand less of a chance to blow up but the chance is still there.

The vibration issue hasn't been addressed as such but they did make some concessions to the rule.

Get off this stupid speed kick while there are still places where you can shoot. You've already got PLENTY of feakin' speed. Learn how to shoot the damn bow!

Amen ,coming from a compound shooter. Learn to shoot and learn your yardage and you can take any tournament against anyone, with any bow.
