Default Illinois Shed Hunting

Anyone finding Sheds in Illinois yet?

I usually look for sheds while scouting during early mushroom season but there were a couple of brutes I've seen with impressive racks, would love to find the sheds before the squirrels get to em.

A buddy of mine has heard of a few people that have come across them. I was watching deer tuesday night and they still had their gear. We might start doing a little looking in the next couple of weeks.

Up here in Rochester, NY the bucks I have been observing are still donning their battle gear. I have been trying my best to find my Bullwinkle that I had a close encounter with earlier this season. Now that would be a shed I would be posting for all to see. He was massive. Wish me luck as I do for all shed hunters.

As I used to live in Villa Grove, I'd say your a little early to start finding sheds. Give it a couple more weeks.

I've seen at least one buck without his gear and that was on the 14th in kane county, illinois. I'm sure there are many others who have also shed.

I'm looking for the sheds of a couple of bruisers. I though the bigger the rack, the heavier, and thus the earlier they might shed. Might be bum logic though.
Any thoughts?

hazcon, the bigger it is, the stronger it is, the harder it will be to fall off. i dont think size has much to do with it, the strength and weight kinda increase and decrease together.
