nubo.......There are plenty of bowfishmen in Ontario. Some of the chat/forum sites have guys talking about their trips. They get some good ones! More fun than one should be allowed to have!

Good Luck!

mattisbob..........Any cheap bow that fits you is good. I wouldn't reccomend useing your good hunting bow, bowfishing bows get very abused!

Alot of bowfisherman use recurves from 40 to 50 lbs. I like alittle more power. We can only shoot daylight in Minnesota, so we take some longer and deeper shots. Other states have alot of night bowfishing with very very close shots. I would look for a cheap $25 to $45 compound. Get a AMS Retreiver Reel and a bowfishing Whisker Bisqit. Muzzy makes alot of good arrows. The whole set-up $100 ot $110.

Have fun!

I believe in NY you can only bowfish for non game fish>ie>carp. Is this different where any one else lives?

I'll try to put a few photos in here. This one was 3 1/2 hours on shooting carp and buffalo.

Mossy Oak...........Contagious is putting it lightly! I just bought a brand new Parker UL 31 for a new bowfishing set-up! Its short and light, good power, it should really do the job. I'm even planning on painting it Sky Camo. I'm really going to get this baby dialed in! Can't wait!

Good Luck!

I went for my first time last spirng. I LOVED IT!! What a blast.
By the end of summer I purchased a used bow to use for strictly for bowfishing. There are alot of good websites with information. Make sure you use the proper equipment,, especially the arrow kits.
