I have seen pics of deer like that. I read an article this year (D&DH I think) about the rearity of these deer. All the pics they showed....the deer had some brown or the black had a brownish tint. That pic is awesome. Not only is it s nice buck to begin with, but very cool looking with the all black hide. Great pic, thanks for the link.

I believe the term is melanism. Sort of like the opposite of albinism. A hunter took a real nice melanistic deer in the county south of mine last season. Definitely a rariety.
