Default Leaving Feb 15th

I am leaving on the on the 15th of Feb for a week long trip to Ft.Stewart in Savannaf Georgia to Wild Boar hunt. I met here in Va a guy durring bow season that ended up being the wildlife Biologist there. You can hunt them all year . He promised me he could help me stalk with-in ten yards to take one with my bow, now he has got a baby due in three days and maybe be limited to the time he can spend with me, I am going with 9 other friends, Does any one have any good tip (incase I need them) on how to find wild hogs? where they feed, and on what ,do they tend to group up? he told me his buddy hunts with him, (I met him too) and he is the Fisheries Biologist ,and he is gonna try to help me also, not every day ofcourse, but they are going to try to leave me some good maps also. Any advice is more than welcomed.~Ben

Ben, the only tip I have for you is to stop by and pick me up, after you call my work and tell them I will be &quot;sick&quot; for a few days. LOL good luck on your hunt, sounds like fun<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I live in Oregon and have traveled to California a lot to hog hunting. Where we hunt them you can find where they feed because it looks like someone rototilled the area. We find the freshest sign and hunt them early and late in day. If the weather is cool you will see them more of the day but they hole up pretty good when it warms up. Also, ONLY shoot them broadside or quartering away. That grissel shield you hear about over thier chest and shoulders is tougher than you would think. My boy just killed his first boar this year at 12 yards. It gets your blood pumping. Happy hunting

Thanks guys, I am so ready for this, it is so cheap too, about 45 bucks for a one week lic. then a base permit is like another 20 so then you just have meals and hotel, well it sould be great, 5 shot, this is an anual hunt for most of these guys going, so maybe next year you can schedule it, I am also taking my rifle and black powder, but I really want one with my bow, we are going to continue to do this hunt every year always the week of Presidents Day. so I'll let you all know how we do, and hope to be able to post some pics, I need better luck than I had on my Sika Deer hunt , lol....

I have hunted Ft. stewart a few times for deer and hogs.
my only advice is to hunt the river and creek swamps and along the sloughs, they love the water and mudflats.
find fresh rooting and follow.
good luck, have fun and be safe.

I am not a hunter I am a whitetail population reduction specialest

remember keep your back to the sun, your knife sharp, and your powder dry.
