bowhunter magazine = porn
For the last year the ads on the back cover of bowhunter magazine have been
fairly sleazy, but not worth my time to write in about. This month's ad
with a new model and more sleaze is simply pornograhic. This obvious
depiction of fellatio (you'll have to look it up, but its a sex act) has no place in a hunting magazine let alone the cover! This is not even a settle ad, even without the gesture I would not
have this in my house or my office where my magazines usually end up. Its
definitely something that good, honest, and decent people (which most
hunters are) would NOT want in their homes. I was embarrased to have it in my
house without tearing off the cover. As a sport with strong family ties I
would think that you would have the sense to realize that this porn has no
place in the world of hunting. I fail to see how sex acts are related to
the sport of bowhunting or even target practice.
This is obviously not just some marginal ad that slipped by the editor.
Heads should roll for this. Readers deserve not only and apology but
should be told that the person responsible for this is gone. go to their website and respond to them Bowhunter.com

I have seen these kinds of complaints before in the response sections of the hunting magazines you mentioned. Unfortunately I have yet to see this particular picture ....
Think of it this way, all those ads .. the ones about sex position tapes, super sex pills, enlargment of this and reduction of that .. as well as the hunting product ones, all those ads pay the writers and editors and layout people at those magazines. Without those ads .. even with all that subscription money you pay ... there is NO magazine. I know it is hard to believe, but those magazines need that money to operate and put out a good product. You have the very American right to complain (freedom of speech) the right to not buy the magazine (freedom of choice) , but don't you think you can accept the magazine's number one American right (freedom to make money)?

To add to what MA Jay said....
Fact is, is that sex sells and with everything as it is today, it doesn't seem to matter what type of product someone is trying to sell or push onto others. If it is something that bothers you that much, the best approach to take is to email or call the magazine and tell them about your distaste and cancel your subscription. If they get enough calls, emails etc... on the issue, they will change their practices. It's all about the $$. They will do whatever it takes to sell more issues. Really no different than anything else.

If you are referring to the Martin ads , I can't see how you watch TV, there is more sex on Court TV than in the magazines. SEX SELLS and it will be worse as time allows, the ads are what most magazines are interested in it seems.
