Default My last day for the season

This afternoon was the last day for my season and I still had my doe permit left. when I was in my stand i started to reflect on this years season. All the ups and downs of the season.Like when I met a new hunting partner during my bear season. it was a owl. that every night would swoop down to a big old Cedar tree that stood across from me and would watch him catch the red squirless and chipmunks. and that last day of bear season he looked at me one more time and stared at me like saying see ya next year. and hearing the wolves talk to each other at night. i would just sit their in my stands in total darkness and just soak up all the night residents its amazing what you can hear in the nightime. Then the bad times like seeing the local dogs run the deer on my property. Or when I was hunting w/my wife and a nice 10 pter. was coming in and at the last second Other deer blew at us from behind then not even a second later 6 screaming snowmobiles came down the state trail and scared them all out. The state trail runs thru our property, thats the only bad part about our property. But the most thrilling moment was when my 4 year old son was with me when I was able to shoot a buck. He seen the whole thing go down and it did not bother him one bit he was so excited he still talks about it. We went back to the house and waited for awhile to go and follow the blood trail. he ran about 35 to 40 yds. the only thing he didn't like was seeing the gut pile. but he hepled drag it home. Now he says that he is "THE GREAT WHITE HUNTER NOW" we all laugh. But in a couple of weeks we will be out scouting for next year. I use my GPS to keep records of all the scrapes and rubs to compare thru the years. So I hope everyone had a wonderful season and please remember that hunting just isn't to harvest a animal but the memories are just as important as the bounty.

Sounds like you had a great year, hope next year brings you the same minus the snowmobiles. I myself had a great year also I just cant wait to take my daughter with me, I show her everything that I get and she likes it. Once in awhile she says I shouldnt do it so I explain thats how life is and ask her if she wants some of that elk I brought home and she says yyyuuummm OK.
