I do think I will pick up a new knife this year though.....I've had my eye on a custom style that a guy makes from old saw mill blades and fancy handles.
Ya i know a friend who has one of those. They have elk antler handles, and they knives are made from old saw mill blades.... somewhere in Montana. They are called ..... hmmmmm....... Ruana knife!!!!!! YA! they take a chunk out of the ol' wallet though. Great looking, and really strong.

i use a small type folding like a buck lite. not much of a fan of using big bowie types. i do love using a gut hook though. most important thing is having a knife with good steel and a good sharpener.

I carry a "sharp" brand folding lockblade with what I think is a clip point, that my brother gave me years ago when I first started hunting. it isn't fancy or expensive but it's well made and has always held a great edge. I've done everything from gut deer and squirrel to butcher them to limb out trees. I have to say it's been a great knife. I did see a really wild looking knife on a butchering video I bought at walmart. it had two blades and you can slip the blades around the belvic bone and lever upward and it just cuts/breaks right thru. I would be interested in finding one of those.
