I just was looking at the bowtech rascal and that thing is smokin' fast! At 25" draw and 40lbs pull it is launching arrows at 260+fps! Not too many years ago that was a speed bow at 70lbs. In the next few weeks I am getting me a Bowtech for next season and thinking very serously about getting my boy a rascal if he likes it although they come with a price tag of over $250.00 retail.

I say it is every bit worth the money. That is smoking for a 25" draw, let alone 40 pounds, but I wonder how forgiving it is. Thats important with youngsters.

BC,
I held a Rascal the other night......you're right it's the coolest "Kids" bow I've ever seen. Now kids can shoot the low poundage that they need and actually get their arrows to STICK in the target!!
I don't know if you actually held one or just saw it in a catalog, but the pictures don't do it justice.....I wanted to be a kid again......Well come to think of it, I AM like a kid again. (I just got another BowTech myself)
You can pick one up for considerably less than retail if you check a few shops.....that MSRP # really doesn't mean a whole lot.
I don't think you can go wrong with any BowTech.....I'm on my second one now, and every one I've shot has been terrific.

KY_Bowhunter,
The specs are as follows.....(I'm cheating with the catalog I picked up when I got my new bow
)
Bowtech "Rascal"
Weight 2.0lbs
ATA Length: 24.375
Brace Height: 7.5"
Draw Weights: 20-30-40
Draw Lengths: 19-25"
Let-off: 65-80%
Speed: 256-262fps!!!
(speed is based on the high end specs....25" at 40lbs with a 200gr arrow.)
Sounds forgiving and fast!!!(maybe too fast)
(And it's got 4 different paint jobs the kids will love!)
Geez........and my first bow was a fiberglass longbow with wooden arrows.

At bowtech's website out next to the speed it has an * and at the bottom of the specs it states IBO speeds based on 25" draw and 40lbs. It's a little confussing. It doesn't bother me to give that much money for a kids bow because that bow he could actually use to hunt.
Matt
I haven't had a chance to hold one but the pics in the cat. look great. Right now I torn between the Extreme solo and the mighty mite. The bow he has now is a golden eagle brave but his has out grown it and with that bow at 20 yrds you have to aim at the moon to hit the target.

About 5 years ago I bought my wife a jennings micro carbon extreme. At 25" draw...42 lbs. draw weight, with a 210 gr. arrow...272fps.
Oh ya...$199.00
