Okay guys, Like I said, I didn't want this turning into a Mathews bashing post and it seems that no matter what is mentioned about Mathews bows, people will always bash for and against these bows. I just wanted to know if they had a huge share in ODC or what.

Royak has a very good point too. Nearly all archery equipment today is extremely over priced.

Compare guns to bows and what they actually do (energy and pressures produced and controled)

What they are made of (alluminum and various fibers for limbs VS. steel and titanium) and

The tolerances involved (.000 VS. .0000),

The machining process (boring and rifleing barrel, broaching a receiver VS. machining holes in riser and limb pockets) with each and bows become even more overly priced.

I realize that a lot of money goes into R&D but it is a little rediculess.

as far as the advertising goes. Go up to someone who has no interest in bow hunting, but loves gun hunting and the outdoors. Ask them what a good bow is, id bet they say mathews. Whatever mathews is doing, its working. "Mathews sales rose 2600% from 1995 to 1999." i dont find that hard to beleive. Weather or not mathews is the best or overpriced or whatever isnt my place to say but they have a good product and know how to get it to the public.

I always thought the ODC was run by those people that make the gold prospecting shows. There is a lot different variations with the same hosts and they air all the time. I really have no idea though.

I believe you can purchase shares of stock in the Outdoor Channel on the Stock Exchange. You can own a piece of it if you so desire.

It's nice to watch the Outdoor channel when I'm at my parent's up north, but I get tired of all the advertising in the show's. I know they need to make there money and mention there sponsers but it get's old after awhile.

I don't mind the 60 second comercial thrown in during a show, but most of the hunting shows are nothing but one long comercial. They are constantly hawking or endorsing products during the show. it sure must be nice having your own show getting free hunts and hunting products. I saw the coming attractions for the next season for a show I believe was called the outdoor Journal or something to that effect. Just about every single hunt was in a high fence. Think I will stick to Seinfeld reruns.........dabow
