what is a good bow to start with that does not cost alot of money sents you all think using a crossbow is wrong then i thought i might get one.I have been think about buying one anyway but dont know anybody that uses one and dont know nothing about them.

Nitro, if using a crossbow in your state is legal and you want to use one, then do so.

If you are interested into getting into archery, visit some pro shops. They can help get you started right. You do not need an expensive bow to enjoy archery or bowhunting. I would suggest starting out with a good used bow or cheaper new bow. Just make darn sure they fit you for draw length and draw weight. The worst thing you can do is to not get one that fits you and too much poundage at first.

Whoa! Everyone is entitled to their opinion. You keep yours! Opinion/belief that is.

However I will say, I hunted many years with guns, then I traded for a bow one day and have never looked back. I still gun hunt some but a bow is where it is at~~~for me!

Now who's to say next year it won't be a longbow/recurve bow or something else. (Keg?_)

Give us a little feed back about if and what you want to hunt with it or just target shoot. How much do you feel like spending? How old are you? How tall / big / strong are you?

You can get good bows for $200 up to $1000. They all fling arrows. Some faster, some slower. Some have more or less hand shock than others. ETC...ETC...

IMO a great first time bow would be a Parker hunter mag ($440 package) or stealth hunter ($560 package). Both of these bows can be had in a "package" deal that will provide you with a pre set up rest, quiver, arrows, sight, bow sling. All you would need to add would be a release if you want to use one, a stabilizer and some limb savers. Here is Parkers link. Oh yeah, they make cross bows too.

My first question whenever someone considers getting a new bow is "How much do you want to spend?". One has to consider that before moving forward...and to be more specific..."How much do you want to spend on just the bow itself" as compared to "How much do you want to spend on accessories?".

I usually suggest something like the PSE Nova for someone just getting into the sport because it offers a good bit of adjustability in draw length, a smooth draw cycle and in a relatively inexpensive package.
