Default Need experienced opinions here...

I shoot a Proline Point Blank that is 60# weight, 30"draw length, and 65% let-off.
I have had great success with this bow but am wanting another one either Matthews, PSE, or Bear. (Haven't decided yet.)

How much is this bow worth? I traded for it a couple years ago.

Also what do you guys suggest? My $ max is $300.00 for the bow itself.

How old is the Proline?

I doubt you'll be able to get a whole lot out of it.........most people like yourself are wanting new bows and buying an older used one wouldn't be a good idea to most.

It is probably 5 years old. I figured it wasn't worth much.

Probably closer to 10 years old. If you bought it 5 years ago "new" it had been sitting on the shelf for a few years.

They haven't made the Point Blank/New Wave in a Loooong time.

You might get 100 bucks from someone who REALLY wants that particular bow. Otherwise it would sell on ebay for $50 to $75

Looks like a 'hand-me-down' then huh?

So what are your suggestions on a new bow? PSE, Bear, Matthews, or other?
I'm looking at $300.00 for just the bow.

With a $300 limit on your purchase forget Mathews. I suggest you go to a good pro shop and try the brands yourself and pick the one you like. Everyones tastes are different and I even though I'm a Mathews shooter I dislike "pushing" someone towards a bow brand "because thats what I shoot".

I would suggest a Martin bow, you can find one for under $300 and they are a very solid bow. I shoot a Martin Jag Mag I think I paid around $300 for it maybe even less I cant remember, but its a great bow for the money.

$300 doesn't scratch very deep into the catalog these days. Hoyt, Onieda, Mathews and Bowtech don't have anything priced less than $300. Look in the Cabelas or BassPro catalog. That's where you'll see most of the bows left on the market that are in your price range. Or check out some of the on-line dealers. Then head off down to the local shop and see if they carry them. If so, you're in business.

Honestly, most 'budget bows' are plenty decent. They will shoot an arrow just as accurately as the top dollar stuff. They might not shoot that arrow quite as fast; they might have a bit more vibration; they might be a little more challenging to shoot a 300/60X indoor score with; but they'll get the job done.

Prices they're asking for bows these days are outrageous. But... what isn't priced outrageous any more.

I did find some Mathews and Hoyt, PSE, and Bear '02 and '03 models at my proshop that he wanted to get rid off and will take $300.00 if I put the money in his face. They don't come with anything, but I had the sights etc that I want to use anyway.

I made a mistake and shot the PSE Scorpion at his shop and loved it, then found out the price started at $450.00.

He has a Mathews MQ2(?) that he will sale for $300.00 and it shoots well.

I believe I will hand down the Point Blank to my nephew and try out a lot more bows between now and February. (Tax Money.)
