Good question Cougar!

I think that the problem you mentioned, is a problem in every state.[:' (]

In my home state of PA, no hunting on sundays is a big one for many guys.

Another problem that is not exclusive to PA, but is way more prevelant in PA than anywhere else I have ever hunted is......TRESSPASSING!

It is a way of life for many PA hunters. I have talked to countless PA residents about this. Many of them openly state that they should be allowed to go where they want!

I find this mentality amazing. Especially since we has roughly 8.2 million acres of public hunting land. And, it is not that hard to get permission on private land.

What makes me mad.....

The local conservation officers sometimes set up deer decoys near cornfields etc and within view of roads. It is amazing how many slob hunters get caught shooting at a fake deer out of their truck window while on the highway. I mean...Gee....how dumb can these guys get? If they are shooting at these fake deer and getting caught, how many real deer do they take this way without getting caught?

People driving around with rifles shooting deer from the road(poaching)
TRESPASSERS
people not checking in deer, and shooting who knows how many times there limit
people not sighting in their shotguns and wounding animals
too long of shotgun season (3 weeks)
I think it should be a earn-a-buck
people shooting little bucks and not letting them grow up (i' m guilty!)
not having rack size limits (4 points per side, 14 inch spread, etc)
Illegal party hunting
i could go on and on

I think the biggest problem in Illinois is the tag lottery for firearms season. I had a friend who sent in for a full season tag in one county and got it. Then he sent in for second season tag and got an either sex tag. To me that makes no sense. They say they want to keep deer population down but yet i know all kinds of people who send in for two full season tags for my county and only get one. So how is it that a guy who sends in for a second season tag can get away with an either sex tag. If you ask me he should get an antlerless only tag if they want to keep the population down. Maybe this makes no sense to anyone but i dont get it.

I also think they should make the firearms season longer than just two weekends. I bowhunt but always look forward to shotgun season because i know i am almost guaranteed a deer. So if the population wants to go down why not make gun season longer? Interesting?

Rico, the guys you call hunters who pay to hunt on that 12' high fenced land are really shooters, with little hunting skill in my opinion.

This is just my opinion but I think the two biggest problem in WV are:

1- Poaching, I' m not sure if this is a problem statewide but I hunt the bow only counties in Southern WV and the poachers seem to be running wild down there. The DNR is doing all they can but it still does not seem to be enough. I would not care to bet anyone that over 50% of the deer taken in the bow only counties are poached.

2- Hunters taking small bucks. I think the average age of deer taken in Central WV is 1 1/2 years old. This is one of the reasons I drive 250 miles round trip to hunt the bow only counties even if its just for the day. Whats really gets me is to drive that far to hunt get to my stand before daylight and then by mid morning I hear rifles being fired in all directions. [:@][:@][:@]

Not being able to hunt the places that need it the most, creating a huge imbalance in deers populations.

Poaching. Sickens me.
