Default my story

My name is matthew alwine and i am fourteen year old. This is the
story of opening day of my first bow season. I was hunting in NE
Washington above Kettle Falls with my bow instuctor and neighbor
Kathryn Burnell. on sept 1st At 1:00 pm i climbed into my stand which
was on the edge of an alfalfa field in a big locus tree overlooking two
apple trees. At about 4:45pm a doe came into the alfalfa field
followed by two small bucks. About half an hour passed untill a 4+4
and a 5+5 ran into the center of the feild but remained out of range..

While i was watching the two big bucks a small two point came over
and began eating an apple under my stand. All the sudden it lifted it's
head looked rite at me and began to snife the air. i had soaked myself i
sent killer but obveously it was not enough. He began to snort and One
by one every deer left the field. I though that the little buck had
ruined my hunt for sure but within fifteen minutes all the deer and a
few extras were back in the field. at About 5:45 a small 4+4 started working
his way toward the apple trees. I stood up and prepared to shoot.I
have shot 5 deer with a rifle but I had never even dreamed of shaking
so bad, It was so bad I was surprised he could not here my knees
cracking together. At about twenty yards it stopped to eat an apple. I

drew my bow set the twenty yard pin and released. My shot fell short
under it belly. The buck walked off about ten yards then came back
and started to sniff my arrow . I couldnt believe it came back in rang.
I drew my bow again and set my twenty five yard pin just behind its
shoulder. I released my arrow and it flew right over its back. This
time the buck spooked and ran about sixty yards away and began to
brouse. I could not believe i had missed the same deer twice. I was so
depressed i thought about leaving my stand and quitting bow hunting
all together. Just as things seamed about hopeles for my bow hunting
career i heard some leaves rustle behind me. I slowly turned my head
to see what I though was a nice 3+4 comeing up a draw. It stoped
broad side at about eighteen yards. knowing this might be my last
chance before dark I took a few deep breaths to try and calm myself. I
drew my bow, set my twenty yard pin just behind its front shoulder,
and immediatly i saw blood pour down the deers side. It ran about
sixty yards and droped. I got out of my stand in record time and when i
got to my deer it turned out to be i nice 4+4 my biggest buck yet and
first deer with a bow.

Way to stick with it and welcome to the wonderfull world of bowhunting I bet you will be hooked for life.

I remember shooting at a large 6 point when I was twelve. There was a branch in the way so I stood on my tippy toes and shot over his back. He just stood there so I tried to go under the branch and shot under him. that buck just stood there sniffing my arrow so I let another one fly and hit that dang branch square in the center. The buck finally looked up at me and just slowly walked away. (He must have known that I was no threat.) I'm glad the outcome was more positive for you.
