I knew this guy at work once that would bs with me alot about this and that well he knew I hunted and I knew that he didnt no big deal. Well every monday he would ask me if I got anything. And even one thime he told me that he used to shoot squirrals for fun and I asked him if he ate em. He said no so I schooled him a bit for killing and not eating, then he told me about a deer he shot. He said he shot a doe and he felt so bad that he never hunted again. (dont know if he at it). I told him that is cool hunting is not for everyone.
Well my second year bow hunting and my uncle sights had got bumped that he didnt know about and he made a bad shot on a spike elk. (just so you know we always take shots at a target in camp before the sun goes down when we can and we did the night before) Anyhow we searched for two days at about 18-20 hours after the shot we found it alive and it was laying down and it boogied out of there so we are preatty sure it lived.
Anyhow on monday of coarse he asked and I told him the story and thats when he totally changed. He says thats why people shouldnt hunt. The woods are getting depleted and all the animals will be gone. Oh man did I open a can on him. I dont feel like typing it all except for one thing I told him that shut him up. Well I was a bit angery too but I told him that he was a fool and that the fish and game personnel are ten times smarter about the animal situation the him and I put together. And if there was a problem with the population then we would not be able to hunt them. He never said another anti- hunting statement to me again.

I know what your going through when people ask if you shot Bambi yet, i usually respond with i shot his father, or mother! as far as the non hunters B' S' i usually tell them i saved a life or two on the highway. This to me is the best response as i feel it is our job not only to bring meat on the table but to reduce an otherwise over-populated herd, making it risky to drive through their habatit. Here in Kansas we have lots of deer vehicle accidents, and i sure wish the Tournpike Athorites would make a place for hunters to pull over and go hunt the deer maybe this would solve the problem.

To those that don' t think the bow is ethical or a good kill I usually just show a few good videos that I have (if there' s time) or just tell the stories of a few kills where the animal doesn' t even flinch, takes a step and then drops dead in it' s tracks.
For the bambi comment I always reply, " No not Bambi... I' m looking for Bambi' s dad!"

One of my inlaws gave me the same rash a while back. So I posed this question to her:
If you were to die by one of the following means, which would you choose
1) Starvation
2) Disease
3) Eaten alive by several coyotes or one bear
4) Arrow through the heart/Lungs
Which would you choose?
These are a deer' s main choices.
