RE: What is your state law
ditto on MI gun during bow season. We do however have an overlapping blackpowder and late archery season. I don' t know the rules for sure about finishing a deer off with your muzzle loader that you hit with a bow. I' m sure you could (in season of course) shoot a bow hit deer with your smoke pole but you better tag it with a legal blackpowder tag.

RE: What is your state law
You can only carry a handgun here during archery season if you have a concealed carry permit. However, you cannot use it to dispatch uninjured or injured deer. It is for self defense only.

RE: What is your state law
Just to add to ArcticBowman.....in Alaska you can carry a sidearm, but if it' s a bow only season the F&W guys better not find any bullet holes in your critter. Sidearms are allowed for personal protection.

Ok, so what if you are personally protecting yourself from an injured deer? Actually happened to my dad - stuck a buck, found him in a pond, he charged my dad. My dad shot with his 38. That to me is personal protection.

RE: What is your state law
Same here in Oregon cant shoot em to finish them off. But this year they just cleared us to carry firearms with us. To me that is great for protection. To enviromentalist it means that we are going to poach. But I guess they some some sort of hearing and deamed that they cannot stop us leagally from carrying firearms while bowhunting.

RE: What is your state law
In Indiana it is illegal to possess any firearm while bow hunting. Even if you are bowhunting during shotgun or ML. I never had a problem with it.
