Is it me?????
Or does the off season just seem too long? I don't bow hunt, but will be next year so I love this forum.
I have the itch bad to do some hunting - other than looking for the remote when the kids get done using/hiding it.
Anyhow, what do you all do during the off season? Me, I'm in Utah, so I can't hike right now (tons of snow and cold temps), so I play a lot of ball to try and stay in shape. When spring rolls around, I usually walk 5-8 miles per night and on the weekends go to the hills for a few hours and just hike with my 10 year old and the dog.

Ice fishing kills time in winter.
Spring: Trout, Walleye and Northern fishing
Summer: Scout, fish, shoot, & scout more
Fall: HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY

Sounds like you're doing a lot more than most to stay in shape. That's quite a schedule.
I usually start hitting the weights pretty hard about this time of year in an effort to make my chest bigger than my waist. It also helps with hanging fixed-position stands, and drawing and holding the bow.

I try to spend the next 9 months getting out of the dog house for being gone (in the woods) the last 3.
I might mix in some ice fishing, tie some flies, complete the never ending list of honey do but in secret the bulk of my time is scouting, looking at maps or basically anything else I can do to prepair for next year.

When I am not hunting or on this site I try to read hunting books or magazines to get tips, find out about the latest stuff and the stories of others adventures. helps keep the fire burning till I can get back into the woods.

RE: Is it me?????
ansel: you need to move to Fla. we hunt from Sept. through April, thats 8 mo's on and 4 mo's off hunting that is.we hunt almost all year, you can if you hog hunt, they can be hunted year round on private land.
my wife goes with me so I have no problem with the dog house.
the summer mo's. are spent scouting for hunting season to start, and a little fishing.
I recomend taking your wife with you and you never have a problem when you need a new gun. that way you get to buy two new guns, one for you and one of a different kind for YOU also, she doesn't have to know about that it's for you.
I am not a hunter I am a whitetail population reduction specialest
remember keep your back to the sun, your knife sharp, and your powder dry.

dunno, 10 month bou seasons, 12 month black bear seasons, not to mention small game, furbears, and the odd really late moose season that happen across the state...the only complaints I have about not getting out is to myself! !

Hmmm, lets see, when archery lets out, I normally scout for a couple days before rifle season, when rifle season is out, I scout for late season archery. When late season archery is out, I go rabbit hunting. Then I hit the lake for some ice fishing. Then comes trout season/turkey season/pike season in the spring. Bass starts in the summer, and I also shoot and scout during the summer. Then it is fall and I am in BLISS.
Good Luck This Season: Buck Magnet
P.S. Only Chuck Adams can sit at home and see deer so get into the woods. =;^)
