What do you think about on the stand in between the action?

Sometimes I start to fantisize about a deer coming from over there and doing this and that allong the trail then stoping at just the right spot when all of a sudden a REAL deer does come from that direction. Of course it is never the big buck that I dream of but it really makes a guy wounder.

Most of the time my mind wanders so fast I don' t even know what I was thinking about 5 minutes ago. But I have solved all the worlds problems many times over

I try to think about anything besides work !

Actually I think about past hunts, monster deer that may come my way, all kinds of stuff ..............

I replay many old successful hunts even those that didn' t pan out the way I wanted.

Also think about life, family, etc. Sometimes just let the mind wander to where it wants to go.

Everything! It' s amazing how your mind can wander while your attention is still focused.

Pray, when else do you have the peace and quiet that you have in the woods. I think about a lot of things.

Anything that helps me keep my mind off how hungry I' m getting or how badly I have to go to the bathroom!

When I got on stand I take in my surroundings. I listen to the trees sway in the breeze or listen to the geese fly overhead. On every hunt I close my eyes and say a silent prayer or two and give my maker thanks for letting me enjoy my time in the woods. After I take everything in I get focused on my hunt.

" I wonder how far I could pee from way up here."

" What great weather we' re having...snow, 12 degrees, 25 mph wind (in my face of course), wait, I' m frozen to my stand!"

" I can' t feel my feet. Oh good, they' re still there."

" Getting stiff again, time to stretch. Better make darned sure there are no deer around before I stand up."

" Still gotta pee. Wait what was that noise?!!"

" Darned squirrels !! Make me think you' re a deer will ya? You wanna be a deer? Come over here and do that again. I can pretend you' re a deer too, rodent."

" I knew this tree was too skinny, now I' m gonna get seasick in this wind."

" Time to check the feet again."

" There goes another arrow falling off my rest. I hope I can do the job with what I have left. Hey cool, that one stuck point first. Darn, now I have to clean off the blades."

" Still gotta pee. OK, here we go."

" Wow, I MUST be cold."

" Ahhhhhhh"

" And, right on time, there is the only buck I' ll see all day. Go ahead, run away. See if I care."

" My timing really stinks. I couldn' t have gone an hour ago, NOOOO."

" Hmm, steaming snow. Who' d a thunk?"

" I can' t believe my buddy took a dump from way up here. Imagine the delay."



I have no trouble passing the time. :D:D:D
