Oldtimr has the best answer. We have no idea what your capabilities are or what you plan on hunting. Shooting a bow requires muscles to be used in a manner that is not normally used. Especially the back muscles.
The average male from 16 on up should have no difficulty drawing a compound bow of about 45 lb and that is enough to cleanly take a deer with the proper arrow/broadhead. My suggestion would be to go to a archery pro shop and look at bows in the 45-60 lb adjustable range and one that feels good to you. That is important. Don't buy just because someone said this brand or that brand is the best. There are plenty of bow manufacturers out there that produce quality bows. Martin, Hoyt, Mathews, Elite, Bowtech, etc. but they all feel a little different.

For bows, you can't go wrong with brands like Bear Archery, Hoyt, or PSE. They all make solid bows that are perfect for newbies. As for specific models, the Bear Archery Cruzer G2 or the Hoyt PowerMax are both great options that won't break the bank.

To reinforce what Oldtimr and Bronko said, a bow has to fit you. When you draw, everything needs to be lined up and comfortable. You will struggle to shoot accurately if it doesn't. The only way you can determine this is by trying bows. Good archery shops are aware of this and will accommodate you. There is no substitute, other than luck, for doing this.
