Squirrels damaging treestands?

Default Squirrels damaging treestands?

I recently bought a used API Baby Grand " Twister" hanging tree stand. This model of treestand has a round padded seat cushion that spins 360 degrees. My question is... Should I be worried about squirrels chewing up the padded seat when I' m not sitting in it? I plan on leaving my stand hanging until the end of the season OR until I get my first deer!

I don' t know about API, but they sure do like summit seats. I have replaced 4 in the last 2 years. Keep an eye on them, but there isn' t much you can do.

i have a summit that they sure like to chew on, i put tabasco sauce on the places they like to chew on, don' t have much trouble anymore. after 2 seasons i' m going to replace the cushion next year.

wow that' s wierd. I' ve had tree stands up for 5 years that have the original foam seat (they now need replacing but just because of sun and weather).

I have had it happen on occasion though I was not aware that they showed preference for the flavor of different manufacturers' seats....

Try spraying something foul tasting...though mostly scent-free on the seat when you first set it up....Tabasco sauce for example.... Seriously though, maybe placing some kind of cover over it would help remedy this problem.

I' ve not had a problem with it. But does the model allow you to remove the seat and take it with you?

I have had all of my stands chewed on. They even attack my wooden ones.

BASTARDS!!! You can buy a spray at most pet stores that has a bitter apple flavor to it. It will be natural in most woods and keep the furry tailed rats out of your stand!

Dam squirrles! Thats why I don' t trap. I don' t hunt small game. I let the foxes do that!
